What is Fairtrade and why should we care about it?

Fair Trade. Many of us have heard the term but do what does it really mean?

Fair Trade is essentially just that. It’s when farmers and producers are paid a fair price for their goods. Instead of receiving pennies and making little to no profit, they receive a fair and more sustainable amount.

Fair Trade is based on the simple idea that the products we buy and sell are directly connected to the livelihoods of others. Fair Trade provides opportunities for disadvantaged producers and communities to live a more stable and prosperous life.

In addition to receiving a fair payment, Fair Trade also ensures good working conditions along with no child or forced labour.

By choosing Fair Trade you are making a conscious decision to make the world a better place, by supporting responsible companies, empowering farmers and workers and protecting the environment.

Every purchase we make has the power to create a negative or positive change in the world. Taking small steps towards purchasing more Fair Trade products is a simple change we can all make it our everyday lives to promote change for the better.

Alter Eco is one Australian company that is particularly passionate about Fair Trade and is creating amazing change in this space.

Their mission is simple “To pioneer a full circle approach to eating, farming and doing business – and to inspire others to do the same.”

That’s why every product they make is sourced from farmer-owned coops practising sustainable agriculture.

Alter Eco chocolate has quickly become a favourite for many and we can understand why.

  • Fair trade
  • 100% certified organic
  • Free from GMO’s
  • With a number of Vegan & Gluten-free options

Alter Eco is changing the world, one delicious chocolate bar at a time – that sounds like our kind of mission!
